Video Interaction Guidance (VIG) can help you to get back on track!
With VIG we analyse how contact develops between family members. There are many factors which influence the way we communicate. Not only words but also our non-verbal signals determine what is being said (and heard!). By understanding which factors influence the way we communicate, it gets easier to make changes. You will have an opportunity to make better contact with less conflict.VIG is an intervention where you are guided to reflect on video clips of your own successful interactions. We start by helping you to negotiate your own goals. Adult-child interactions are then filmed and edited, to produce a short film which focuses on the positive. The main question we want to answer is, “What does this child need from its environment”?
In the video playback sessions that follow, together we review the successful moments, particularly those when the parent responds to the child’s action or initiative in an attuned way using a combination of non-verbal and verbal responses. A child can develop when there is empathetic contact. By focusing on successful interactions, they will become more frequent.
